Oldenoak was started by Richard who began his career in woodland management years earlier, it was here that he gained his knowledge and passion for trees and working with wood.

By the early 2000’s Richard was venturing into the world of restoration and conservation of historic buildings where he found it hard to source authentic floorboards for his work. So he started making his own and continues to do so, hand working and colouring his floors to match existing floors or provide new floors for historic and country houses.

Richard’s solid Oak boards are still produced direct from logs, and where appropriate he uses traditional jointing and fixing methods. Some floors still being fitted with traditional Hand Made Rose Head Nails.

Recent years have seen a growth in the requirement for the stability that comes with using engineered planks and Oldenoak’s gift to that market has been to take his ‘old’ methods and apply these to these products. Regularly being accepted for different levels of Listed buildings. This enables Oldenoak to offer a variety of antiqued floors which can be used with underfloor heating.

Whilst all the production work continues to be carried out at OldenOak’s East Sussex workshop, the firm has now opened a showroom in Polegate where new and old clients can view the range of effects and finishes on offer.

We welcome the opportunity to produce bespoke finishes and to find that perfect colour to suit the individual customer and their home. Please feel free to pop in for a chat and to discuss your requirements.
